Hello everyone, today in the blog we are going to see how to install ionic and its dependency in your local system to make ionic application.

So before getting started let's see what is ionic , why is getting more popular nowaday.

What is Ionic ?

Ionic is an open source mobile UI toolkit for building high quality, cross-platform native and web app experiences. Move faster with a single codebase, running everywhere.Ionic is available in many different language like Angular, React, Vue or even no framework at all with vanilla JavaScript.Ionic provide large amount of component which are written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, making it easily build beautiful, high quality UI’s that perform great everywhere.

Ionic have recently came up with its core native device functionality.Ionic makes it easy to access native device features with just a little bit of JavaScript. Choose from a rich library of over 120 native device plugins for accessing Camera, Geolocation, Bluetooth, and more, or dive into the full native SDK when you need it. There’s no limit to what you can build.Ionic have multiple integration plugin which make it more usable , convient and there is a large community to help you out to select the best out of it.


Now let's get back to installation on ionic in our local machine of ionic we need node js to work around.

To install node js you can go to node js web site and download node latest and stable version according to your need but its better to go with stable version.

After successfull installation of node just head over to terminal and check is node is install properly by running

node -v

npm -v

if above two command excute successfully then you need to run

npm install -g @ionic/cli 

to install ionic version globally.

after successfull installation you need to run

npm install -g cordova-res

The above command is very usefull at the time of build of application we need to use our resources to be compile and with help of cordova resources its gonna work.

after installation just check if it's installed perfactly using

ionic -v

That's it we have successfully install ionic in our local machine.

In next blog we are going to learn to make new project , understand difference between cordova and capacitor, and running it on device.
